Here is The News

The Sun is a daily tabloid newspaper in the UK and is owned by Rupert Murdoch.

The top-selling British newspaper is the ninth-largest circulation of any newspaper in the world, at times hitting daily readership of 7.3 million.

The arrival of a baby boy for Prince William and his wife Kate triggered the creative juice in the newsroom and the editors decided to changed its name to "The Son" to honour the event.

Nothing But theTruth

The oath. Or swearing in.

The Malays call it Sumpah.

In chinese it is known as 发誓 (Fāshì)

When ancient Roman men gave testimony, they held their testicles in their hand.

This give rise to the word testimony.

Women protested the use of the word ‘testimony’ when referring to a woman’s statements, because ‘testes’ has nothing to do with a female. Why not use ‘breastimony’?

A Good Analogy

An Indian man walks into a bank in
New York City and asks for the loan officer.
He tells the loan officer that he is going to India on business
for two weeks and needs to borrow $5,000.

The bank officer tells him that the bank
will need some form of security for the loan,
so the Indian man hands over the keys
and documents of new Ferrari parked
on the street in front of the bank.
He produces the title and everything checks out.
The loan officer agrees to accept
the car as collateral for the loan.

The bank's president and its officers
all enjoy a good laugh at the Indian
for using a $250,000 Ferrari
as collateral against a $5,000 loan.
An employee of the bank then
drives the Ferrari into the bank's
underground garage and parks it there.

Two weeks later, the Indian returns,
repays the $5,000 and the interest,
which comes to $15.41.
The loan officer says,
"Sir, we are very happy to have had your business,
and this transaction has worked out very nicely,
but we are a little puzzled.
While you were away,
we checked you out and found that you are a multi millionaire.
What puzzles us is, why would you bother to borrow "$5,000" ?

The Indian replies:

"Where else in New York City can I park my car
for two weeks for only $15.41 and expect it to be there when I return'"

The Power of Horses

Horses are used as the main line of transportation since ancient eras.

In the 1800s an engineer named James Watt invented the term horsepower to relate performance in a mathematical way to equate horses to engine power.

But horses are not only used to measure engine performances.

The early Roman chariots have wheel track of 4 feet and 8.5 inches which is the size of 2 horses standing side by side and measured at the horses backside.

The English have since used that dimensions to space and lay the distance between the 2 rail tracks.

So there you are, the influence of horses and their useful backside.

Moving House

Moving into a new house, either brand new or resale is not simply carrying the luggages there.

Chinese have a list of must-do before stepping into the new abode. Many now practise the ritual when they open the door for the first time. Some may even insert the key into the main door and wait for the auspicious hour, 8.28am or 9.28am.

Throwing the pineapple. Ong Lye as it is known is thrown or rather roll into the house symbolising rolling in the wealth. It will be great if the fruit lands in the middle of the home where wealth will be spread all over the house. And yes remember to give a throaty war cry "huat ah" the same kind that is presently resonating inside the new casino in Sentosa.

Rice and green beans are mixed and scattered to every corners of every room. Toilets included. For the feng shui die hards, before they take the first step into the house they have to mutter "I am the new owner and will be living here from now onward, whoever that is staying inside please move out now, thank you"

Coins should preferably be placed at every corners of the house too.

For the actual move in day, a charcoal stove wrapped in red paper will be lighted up outside the house and the people staying there will step over the stove, then enter the house. The fire should be used to boil water and drank for luck.

For the harder than die hards, praying and burning of joss sticks and gold silver paper at all corners of the living room will complete the ritual.

There will be no need for all these hassles if you do it the American way.

Or the Indonesian way.

Words of Wisdom

All men are created equal, declared Thomas Jefferson in 1776.
In today's high rolling, money talk world the only time man are equal is when they are dead.

Birth, Old age, Sickness, and Death are four events of suffering which humans cannot escape and cannot control.
Venerable Thich Thanh Tu asked "are you afraid of dying ?"
Dying is not frightening because when one dies, one leaves old age and sickness behind – that means one should be happy for one is finally free from them.

A wise man learns by the mistakes of others, a fool by his own.
Wise men are extinct in today's corrupted dog eat dog world. With money they believe they are God.

The man of wisdom is never of two minds; the man of benevolence never worries; the man of courage is never afraid.

God helps those who help themselves.
They certainly did. To the money of course. Nothing but money is sweeter than honey.

Allah will not give mercy to anyone, except those who give mercy to other creatures.
Wonder if the terrorists hear this one.

Giving a Speech ?

Preparing and making a speech can be an unnerving event. Facts need to be assembled and scripted. Capturing the attention of the audience is critical in a successful speech.

In a nutshell, a speech is likened to a stag horn. A point here, a point there, and a lot of bull in between.

Descendant of Apes

Scientists concluded the genetic similarity between humans and apes is somewhere in the neighborhood of 98 to 99 percent. A mere 2 percent differentiate the appearance and intelligence of the 2 species.

It all started after Charles Darwin's proposal that we humans descended from the apes.

But this small genetic difference makes humans damn superstitious.
And religious as well.
Have you ever see a monkey praying to a dead one? Or an ape offering bananas to a dead relative?

It also set humans apart from the rest of the animal kingdom by our ability to talk, write, construct a 880 metre building and dig for gold.

Dr. Mary Claire King and Drs C. G. Sibley and J. E. Ahlquist of San Francisco State University did an experiment over 20 years ago and concluded that Darwin is right- we are indeed chimpanzees.

If the chimpanzees and humans have almost 99 per cent genomic identity, why do we not use the body parts of chimps for organ transplant?

A striking similarity is humans and apes go to war over territorial turf. And over a mate too.

Email Address, Got One?

Pulled this off the www and should make good reading. Those who already read this, you surely had a good laugh. For those who are reading it for the first time, enjoy.

An unemployed man with not much education applies for a position as a toilet cleaner at Microsoft.
He went for an interview and the HR lady ask for his email address so Microsoft can send the employment terms and day to report for work.

The man is worried and replies that he has no computer and therefore has no email address. The lady tells him that without a email address it will be difficult to be selected.

The man goes home dejected and wonders how to pass the day on his last $10 note. Passing by the fruit shop he decides to buy 5 kg of strawberries.

As he walks home he make some house calls to sell the strawberries which otherwise he can't finish. After a couple of hours he double his capital so goes back to the shop to repeat the process 3 more times. In the end he goes home with $60 in his pocket.

He comes to realise that he can survive this way and so he start every day earlier and comes home every day later selling strawberries and additional products. So he triple his money every day.

A short time later he buys a push cart which he soon upgrades to a small truck and after 5 years he is the owner of a fleet of delivery trucks. And soon enough he becomes the owner of one of the largest food chain in the USA.

Now that money is no longer a problem he decides to buy insurance for his family and calls an agent to discuss a good policy. The agent asks him for his email address to send the proposed policy.

The man unabashedly tells him he doesn't have an email address. The agent was surprised that this rich man has no email address and comments "you have no email address and yet nevertheless built this large empire. Can you imagine where you would be if you had an email address".

The man pause for a moment and say "I would be a toilet cleaner at Microsoft"

You read this story and probably have an email address. Therefore you are closer to become a toilet cleaner than to be a millionaire.

Man, Gone Mad

Taiwan opened its first toilet theme restaurant in 2004 after being inspired by a Japanese cartoon featuring restroom images and the toilet themes run through the food and drinks menus.
Modern Toilet draws on people ages 15 to 35, especially students from the three universities nearby and there are already 12 such restaurants in the country.

Hong Kong, China and Japan too jumped on the bandwagan.

And followed soon by Penang.

Thankfully, Singapore is sane enough to avoid this nauseous antics.

Instead a hospital themed fine-dining restaurant came with surgical tables, golden wheelchairs seatings and staff in hospital garb named Aurum come on the scene in 2006.

But this turned out to be too much for the public to swallow, and Aurum quit the scene last year.

Ghost. Seen One Yet ?

Scientists theorised that all humans have electromagnetic brain waves. The earth is enveloped by the same frequency. When a person dies, the wave remains in the atmosphere. Ghosts are just brain waves without a body. The waves go right through your skull and make you see what looks like a ghost.
Your eyes see a living being, then your brain. With ghosts, your brain sees them directly.

One who has a frequency of brain wave ,which a part of it is produced by the oscillation of the organales in our brain called 'crystal ' , exactly resonant with the ghost's electromagnetic waves frequency, see ghost.

Most scientists dismiss the vast majority of ghost sightings as hoaxes. But researchers in Canada, England are exploring what happens in the brain to create the illusion that something is "haunted." So far, they have found evidence that some apparitions may be brain benders caused by spiking EMFs (electromagnetic fields), and possibly even extremely low-–frequency sound waves (known as infrasound) so subtle that the ear does not register them as noise.

Michael Persinger, a neuroscientist at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, has conducted research on the topic.
In 2001 in Perceptual And Motor Skills chronicles the experiences of a teenager who in 1996 claimed to be receiving nocturnal visits—one sexual—from the Holy Spirit. The 17-year-old girl, who had sustained mild brain damage at birth, said she also felt the presence of an invisible baby perched on her left shoulder.
When Persinger and his colleagues investigated (at the behest of the girl's mother), they found an electric clock next to the bed that was about 10 inches from where she placed her head when she slept. Tests showed that the clock generated electromagnetic pulses with waveforms similar to those found to trigger epileptic seizures in rats and humans. When the clock was removed, the visions stopped. Persinger determined that the clock, in combination with the girl's brain injury, were highly likely to have been contributing factors to the perceived nocturnal visits.
