Sun Outages

There is sun outages currently causing cable TV disruptions.

A sun outage is due to the sun's radiation overwhelming the satellite signal.

Sun outages manifest as snowy and noisy picture, or a complete loss of signal.

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has forecasted there would be Sun Outages from March 4, 2012 to March 18, 2012.

Satellite reception will experience daily outages and will last up to 15 minutes.



StarHub and SingTel TV will be disrupted by sun outages that occurs twice a year.

Channels transmitted by satellites that orbit between the sun and their receiving stations will be disrupted.

2012 is the next peaking of the sun’s solar cycle.

Health scientists said so long as you don't get yourself too overexposed there's really nothing to worry about.

In fact the sun is helpful in the activation of vitamin D.

Landmark-The UIC Building

The UIC Building, built 1973 with 40 storey at 152 metre.

United Industrial Corporation (UIC) has won in-principle approval from the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) to convert building in Shenton Way into a residential development.



The company says it has today paid an estimated development charge of $160.1 million to the URA for the proposed redevelopment based on a 60% residential and 40% commercial scheme with a gross floor area of about 926,589 sq ft.

Demolition of the building is underway using the top down method. But first, excavators have to be lifted up to begin the knocking.

So what cranes are able to lift the 5 ton machines up 150 metre?

The Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1 has a maximum lifting capacity of 1,200 tons with its powerful 100 metre (328 ft) telescopic boom. The fly jib can be extended out to reach 126 m (413ft) with a lifting height of 170 m (558 ft). Cost ? S$120,000.00 for one time lifting of the excavators.



There is the option of tower cranes. Erected to 160 metre under hook. Cost ? S$90,000.00 for one time lift and dismantled.

Prison walls. First built in 1625 and obviously to keep the prisoners in.




The Israeli wall. Built primarily to keep the suicide bombers out.

IT Band

No it is not the name of a rock band, far from it.

Iliotibial Band syndrome is a common cause of outer knee pain.



If left untreated, knee pain may become so severe that walking becomes difficult.



The IT band is a tissue on the outside of the thigh, extending from the outside of the pelvis, over the hip and knee, and inserting just below the knee.

Outer knee pain is the classic symptom of IT band syndrome.

Taking a break from running helps your IT band heal.

Suriname a country not often heard this part of the world.

Pronounced as Suri-nahm the country has a land area of 156,000 sq km and with population of half a million.



That is 223 times the size of Singapore which has 5 million people.



The guilder was the national currency until 1 January 2004 when it was replaced by the dollar (SRD). SGD1.00 equal SRD2.60.

Bukit Sembawang Estates is paying S$244.3 million for the 13,600 square metre freehold site.

It won the tender for the enbloc sale in May 2007.



Demolition is underway and the new development will become reality in 2015.
