Exhaust In The Sky

The contrail from the jet plane occurs above 8,000 metre.

Some contrails stop and start. This is due to the plane flying into a layer of low humidity.

In view of the downing of Malaysia Airline MH17 which was cruising at 9,000 metre, attention has been directed to the BUK Missile System which can hit aircrafts flying at over 15,000 metre.

The system cannot tell the difference between civilian and military aircrafts. As the MH17 disaster proves, the weapon in the hands of "thuggish militants" should send chills down the spine of air travellers.

Wild Weather

The 2012 kind.

Heavy Snow and freezing rain fall in parts of China during winter.

Big floods can be expected, coming summer.

Thailand faced its worst flooding in 50 years last December. Flood waters swamped more than two-thirds of the country, submerging rice fields and shutting down hundreds of factories, notably those producing Japanese cars.

A heat wave has hit Thailand.

‘‘Maximum temperatures in several provinces in the North, Northeast and Central regions could hit 40C to 42C next week,’’ says Prawit Jampanya, the director of the Central Weather Forecast Division.

Sun Outages

There is sun outages currently causing cable TV disruptions.

A sun outage is due to the sun's radiation overwhelming the satellite signal.

Sun outages manifest as snowy and noisy picture, or a complete loss of signal.

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has forecasted there would be Sun Outages from March 4, 2012 to March 18, 2012.

Satellite reception will experience daily outages and will last up to 15 minutes.

StarHub and SingTel TV will be disrupted by sun outages that occurs twice a year.

Channels transmitted by satellites that orbit between the sun and their receiving stations will be disrupted.

2012 is the next peaking of the sun’s solar cycle.

Health scientists said so long as you don't get yourself too overexposed there's really nothing to worry about.

In fact the sun is helpful in the activation of vitamin D.

Pinch Me

Bloomberg reported on 30 September 2011.

The 15 mile-per-hour winds that buffeted northern Germany on July 24 caused the nation’s 21,600 windmills to generate so much power that utilities such as EON AG and RWE AG had to pay consumers to take it off the grid.

How lucky can the Germans get ?

It's Back

The haze.

The thick suffocating smoke from Sumatra, the result of excessive clearing and illegal burning of slashed vegetation by land owners and logging companies.

The city centre - financial district of Raffles Place

Hazeful or hazeless, these dudes are not about to miss their fix of the beautiful game.

Cats and Dogs

Intense downpour on a Sunday morning.

The weatherman would describe this as zero visibility.

And obviously such volumn of water would surely lead to floods.

Water cascading into the basement of Tanglin Mall.

And Ouch !!
