Stars and Disaster

The stars went to Japan to showcase their skills and were caught in the once in a century disaster.


KISS announced the following concert dates in Japan on Feb 26, 2011.

4/13 - Nagoya at Aichi Prefecture Gymnasium
4/14 - Yokohama at Pacifico Yokohama
4/17 - Saitama at Saitama Super Arena
4/18 - Kobe at World Hall
4/20 - Tokyo at Nippon Budokan
4/21 - Tokyo at Budokan
4/23 - Sapporo at Makomanai Sekisui Heim Ice Arena




Los Angeles rock band The Melvins were in Tokyo when the disastrous 9.0 earthquake hit Japan Friday 11 2011. Co-incidentally the band was also at the airport in Christchurch when the New Zealand quake hit Tuesday 22 February 2011.




A BBC orchestra was caught in the Japanese earthquake and is cutting short its 17 day tour of the country. The musicians with the Manchester-based BBC Philharmonic experienced the tremor travelling on a coach from Tokyo to Yokohama.



The Korea’s popular girl group 2NE1 arrived in Japan on March 9th for their March 11th appearance in Tokyo. Their Japanese debut has been postponed in light of the horrific 9.0 earthquake disaster.
They were on the 34th floor of the hotel. Because it was higher up, the shaking is more severe, "I thought I was going to fly out" said a band member.


Another Korean girl group KARA were shooting their Japanese drama when the earthquake occurred.

Xiah Junsu of South Korean boy band TVXQ was also in Japan when the earthquake struck.




AK, a Taiwanese duo consisting of Andy Chen (陳奕) and Kris Shen (沈建宏) and Peter Ho were in Tokyo to perform in a concert when the earthquake struck.
