2015 October blooming of the Pulai trees seem to fluorish with the current haze, the worst in South East Asia history.
The Pulai, scientifically Alstonia scholaris drops their flowers faster than they appeared.

Have You Read The Label ?
3 in 1 coffee is popular due to its convenience.
The handy packet displays the ingredients which include non-dairy creamer.
What is non-dairy creamer ?
Such creamer contains casein. Casein is a milk protein that can trigger reactions in those with milk allergies. It is added to non-dairy creamer to create a milky flavour and texture.
How can you have cream if you have no dairy? Hydrogenated palm oil, also known as trans fat give "creamers" the creamy look, feel, and flavour. Trans fat increases your bad (LDL) cholesterol.
Sodium aluminosilicate is an ingredient added to keep powdered creamer from caking. It contain sodium, aluminium, silicon and oxygen. Sodium aluminosilicate has the labeling standard food additive code number E554.

Taxi
In 1640 Paris, Nicolas Sauvage offered horse-drawn carriages and drivers for hire.
Two hundred years later 1891 Germany, Wilhelm Bruhn invented the taximeter. It is an instrument which measures the distance a vehicle travels, and allows an accurate fare to be determined.
On 16 June 1897 Friedrich Greiner started the Daimler Victoria taxi fleet. He was a Stuttgart entrepreneur who started the world's first motorized taxi company.
In 1907 Harry Allen start a taxicab service in New York and repainted them all yellow to be visible from a distance.
Telephone
In the 1870s, Elisha Gray and Alexander Graham Bell both independently designed devices that could transmit speech electrically.
Both men registered their designs at the patent office within hours of each other. Alexander Graham Bell patented his telephone first. Elisha Gray entered into a legal battle over the invention of the telephone. Bell won and the rest was history.
Television
Television was not invented by a single inventor. In 1831 Joseph Henry and Michael Faraday tinkered with electromagnetism and began the era of electronic communication.
The title as to who was the inventor of modern television narrows down to Vladimir Kosma Zworykin, a Russian-born American emplyee of Westinghouse, and Philo Taylor Farnsworth, a farm boy from the state of Utah.
In 1930 American Charles Jenkins broadcasts the first TV commercial.
Trains
Rails called wagonways were being used in Germany as early as 1550.
By 1776, iron had replaced the wood in the rails. Wagonways evolved into tramways and spread thoughout Europe. Horses still provided the pulling power.
In 1825 George Stephenson built the locomotion for the Stockton and Darlington Railway in England, which was the first steam railway in the world.
The American rail network began with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in 1828.

Imaginary Noises
Noise, real or imaginary can be very frustrating between neighbours.
Neurologists have identified Auditory Hallucinations as a cause of many neigbourly spats.
Hearing one's name being called aloud or hearing a voice but finding no one there is common.
Sound such as knocking , door closing, heavy walking, furniture dragging are also often cited.
Hallucinations have been linked to mental illness for many years.
Psychiatric illness, such as schizophrenia and dementia are known to be causes of auditory hallucination.
A 75 year woman drove her neighbour nuts telling them to turn their music down when they weren't playing any.
Psychotherapy treatment is recommended for people with the condition, particularly the elderly.

The Cs Have It
Concrete
Early Romans invented concrete by mixing volcanic dusts, lime and small rocks.
In 1877, Frenchman Joseph Monier invented reinforced concrete. Concrete is a mixture of stones, sand and cement and reinforced by embedded steel bars.
The modern day concrete made possible the skyscapers we see today.
Car
In 1886 Karl Benz invented the first petrol powered car, or auto mobile.
On June 28 1926 Benz merged with Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft (DMG) and produced the first Mercedes Benz.
Clock
Clocks have been around since the beginning of civilisation.
A German man called Peter Henlein, invented the Spring powered clock in 1510.
He produced a watch which was nothing more than a portable clock. But that was enough to revolutionised time keeping.
Computer
On April 4 1975, Paul Allen and Bill Gates established Microsoft.
On April Fool's Day 1976, Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs started Apple Computers.
This blog and its readers, will not be possible without their inventions.
Credit Card
Credit cards originated in the United States during the 1920s.
The inventor of the first bank's credit card was John Biggins of the Flatbush National Bank of Brooklyn in 1946.
Diners Club issued their credit card in the United States in 1950 followed by American Express in 1958.
Originally promoting to traveling salesmen, it became a huge overnight success.
Camera
Joseph Nicephore Niepce, a French inventor credited as the inventor of photography in 1827. Bitumen that was exposed would react to the light, creating an image.
George Eastman refined the idea and during the 1940s, color photography was created. Eastman founded the Eastman Kodak Company in 1892. The first true digital camera was created in 1986 by Kodak.

Mountains
In the light of 12 year old children who lost their lives in the Mount Kinabalu earthquake, questions have been asked whether children are allowed to climb high altitude mountains.
La Rinconada in Peru is the highest city in the world.
It is a mountainous city at an altitude of 5,100 metres. Population: 50,000
Gold mining is the main driver of the economy.
At 5,100 metre, low level of oxygen in the blood can occur anytime. The effects of high altitude on humans are considerable. But how does the Peruvians adapt at living at such high altitude ?
142 million people live at altitudes above 2,500 metres. Native Peruvians have better oxygenation at birth with enlarged lung volumes throughout life.
People coming from sea level cities need 2 weeks to adjust to these altitudes.
Children are more likely to get high-altitude illness because their bodies have a hard time adjusting to the low oxygen in the air.

Your Eyes
Sunglasses today are commonly used as a fashion accessory.
Sunglasses are an effective and affordable way to protect eyes from UV damage.
UV damage occurs in the morning from 8.00 - 10.00 and in the afternoon from 2.00 - 4.00.
Not all sunglasses provide UV radiation. Such sunglasses are harmful to eyes because the darkened filter causes pupil dilation that allow more light to enter the eyes.
Sunglasses were in fashion in the 1930s. Nowadays people cannot imagine a day without sunglasses.
Do UV coating on your sunglasses have an expiration date?
The good news is - no they don't.

Moving ? You'll Need It
Made from polyethylene (LDPE) film with air bubbles, the bubble pack cushions fragile items during transit.
Invented by Alfred Fielding and Marc Chavannes in 1957.
Alfred Fielding was born 31 August 1917 in Kirkland. Died 7 July 1994 in Kirkland, Washington at age 76.
Marc Chavannes was born on 2 March 1896 and died on 6 April 1994 in Sarasota County, Florida at the age of 98. Chavannes is a native of Switzerland and spent part of his professional life as a judge on the World Court and at the League of Nations before entering business.
Air is not injected into all those tiny bubbles. Instead, it is trapped between two sheets after they pass over several rollers, one of which creates the indentations for the bubbles.
