Durians has joined the ranks of "outlaws" to be banned in publc buses and trains.

Some taxi drivers would chase passenger off their cabs for carrying the "offensive" fruits.

  1. Was wondering if the fruit has an offensive smell when cut or does it emit an odor even if when it's whole.
We have something similar the jackfruit but only the overripe ones emit a funny to some but pleasant for others odor when left whole.

  2. Singapore has the highest per capita consumption of durians in the world.
The smell is offensive to visitors outside of SE Asia, but heavenly to the locals. The smell is ever present, whole or open.
