A Real Superstar

Celine Dion performed in Caesars Palace theater between 2003 and 2007, with her "A New Day" show playing to more than three million fans and grossing more than $400 million.

The US$100 million contract was for 3 years.

Dion will receive $100 million, plus 50 percent of the profits during the three-year contract.

With the collaboration of Franco Dragone of Cirque du Soleil fame, the show continued for an additional two years for an undisclosed sum.

M J Wylie 49, a health-care consultant from Denver and die hard Celine Dion fan saw the show 62 times. She estimated she had easily spent US$15,000 to US$20,000 on her Dion habit.

Caesars Palace consider the price tag money well spent. Gary Selesner, the president credited Ms. Dion with revitalizing the fortunes of the hotel itself.

This year she signed a new US$100 million dollar deal to return to Las Vegas. The three-year contract will see Dion perform 70 shows a year and will kick off on March 15, 2011 at the same 4,100-seat Colosseum, which was originally built for her "A New Day" shows.
