Every Dog has its Day

There are well over 200 commemorative days used by governments, groups and organizations to celebrate something.

Father's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June.

Mother's Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May in most countries although in various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in March or May.

Children's Day is traditionally celebrated on October 1 in Singapore. It is recognized on various days in many countries around the world.

Valentine's Day also known as Saint Valentine's Day,  is observed on February 14 each year.

May Day also known as International Workers' Day,  is a celebration of the international labour movement although it began as a spring festival.

And yes, the present dengue epidemic reminds us that Mosquito Day is observed on 20 August, to commemorate British doctor Sir Ronald Ross's discovery in 1897 that female mosquitoes transmit malaria.

International Nurses Day  is celebrated around the world on 12 May the birthdate of Florence Nightingale.

Easter  is a Christian festival celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion.

Thinking Day is celebrated annually on February 22 by Girl Guides.
In view of the worldwide conflicts and unnecessary deaths, this date should be promoted.

World Consumer Rights Day 15 March,  is an annual occasion to promote basic rights of consumers.

International Lefthanders Day was first observed on 13 August 1976.
It is meant to promote awareness of the inconveniences facing left-handers in a predominantly right-handed world.
